Clinton Gähwiler
BA HONS MA PSYCHOLOGIST
SPORT PSYCHOLOGIST & PERFORMANCE COACH
For 27 years I headed up the psychology practice of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) in Newlands, Cape Town. As of January 2023 my family and I are enjoying a new adventure in Switzerland. Part of the week I am working as a psychologist at Clinica Holistica Engiadina, and the other part I am consulting privately from Gossau (St.Gallen), both in-person and online.
My main interests lie in the related fields of sport and health psychology. Over the years I have worked extensively with elite athletes and teams, and provided psychological support at a number of international sporting events, including the Olympic Games.
On the health psychology side my passion lies in helping people to make and to maintain healthy changes to their lifestyles. This has lead to consulting, training, and supporting in various stress management, burnout prevention, weight-loss and cardiac rehabilitation programmes. The sport and health psychology interests come together perfectly in the corporate environment, where my work focuses on helping clients to develop, implement and maintain strategies which optimize both performance and well-being, on a sustainable basis.
